Healthy eating

Health issues on Abbey Close estate had been identified as a key problem and the tenants and residents association decided to hold an initiative to encourage the community to get healthy and learn about the benefits of exercise and healthy living. The "Healthy Hamper Event" involved the TRA, supported by Six Town Housing, securing funding from the Radcliffe LAP to provide healthy hampers for all members of their community. The hampers included pedometers, bottled water, fruit, health bars, toothpaste and brushes, as well as sweatbands and various leaflets. The PCT and NHS attended to provide useful information and advice.
The event was held on the car park on Coronation Gardens, which is central on the estate. Over 100 people collected hampers. We got really positive feedback, but what was really great was that we handed out hampers to the sections of the community that will benefit most
