Tackling anti-social behaviour - Six Town Housing
Tackling anti-social behaviour
Date: Wednesday 28th October, 2009

On 2nd October 2009 at Bury County Court, Six Town Housing were granted an 18 month Injunction against Roxanne Carter of Massey Street, preventing her from playing loud music and allowing visitors to her property who were causing a nuisance, including shouting and fighting on or around the property.

Complaints regarding disturbances at Roxanne’s property were received almost as soon as she moved into her property in September 2009. She was issued with several warnings for breach of tenancy which were disregarded, resulting in legal action becoming necessary to stop the nuisance.

After reviewing the evidence from residents and witnesses who were suffering from the nuisance, an injunction was felt the best way in tackling the problem in order to deal with this rather than displacing the problem by evicting the nuisance tenant who may have continued the behaviour unchecked in another property.

The injunction will last until 31st March 2011 and should Roxanne break this then she could face eviction or being sent to prison.
