Tenant Services Authority consultation
Date: Friday 8th January, 2010
The Tenant Services Authority (TSA) have produced a consultation document on the new regulatory framework for social housing in England. The new system of regulation will take effect from 1st April 2010.
The TSA believe the best place for the quality of services to be discussed, agreed and scrutinised is locally, between landlords and their tenants. Landlords will be required to set out what they offer to tenants and set local standards that reflect the local priorities.
The six new standards that landlords will have to meet are:
• Improve standards of service delivery for tenants;
• Support decent homes and neighbourhoods;
• Promote effective tenant involvement and empowerment;
• Ensure services are well run and deliver value for money;
• Promote and protect public and private investment; and
• Encourage and support a supply of well-managed social housing.
What does it means for you?
This consultation is an opportunity to influence how the TSA implement their new powers.
