If you want to apply for a Council property, you will need to complete an application form. The rehousing system is run and managed by Bury Council. They will register your application and can tell you about your chances of being rehoused. Information can be found on the Council's Housing Register web pages. If you wish to know more about an area in which you are considering applying for a property, please follow this link to Six Town Housing's Estate Profiles.
How we allocate empty properties
People are matched with properties in two ways:
- Allocation by Six Town Housing to the applicant in the greatest housing need.
When a property becomes vacant, Six Town Housing will allocate the property by selecting the person from the Council’s Housing Register who has been assessed as being in the greatest need. This is done by finding the applicant in the highest priority band who has waited longest to be rehoused. - Response to adverts by applicants
The Council is responsible for running the Bury Home Options (previously Choice Based Lettings) scheme. For more details of available properties and information about how the scheme work, click on the link at the top of this page
