Many people do not want to leave their own home and Care-link is a good alternative to sheltered housing for those who just want some added security at home. Many people want to enjoy their independence, but they are worried about accidents in the home and need support and assistance.
Care-Link is a service provided by Bury M.B.C. Social Services Department. It is a 24 /7 alarm service that enables vulnerable people to remain safely in their own homes. People can rest assured that in any emergency they can have person to person contact any time of the night or day.
Care-Link will provide the right backup needed for any situation that arises in and around the home.
They can supply an alarm unit that can work in conjunction with your telephone. This includes an alarm button which can be worn as a pendant, on the wrist or simply carried anywhere in the home. We can also provide smoke detectors, fall detectors and movement detectors that work with the same technology if required.
The alarm unit is activated by pressing the button that you carry and a call is automatically made to the Care-Link where an operator can talk to you and decide what assistance you may need, which may be to contact a friend, relative, Ambulance or a Doctor.
If you are unable to speak, the Care-Link Operator will know the call is from you and who to contact on your behalf. When you press the button at home the computer recognises you and displays your information to the operator within seconds.
Friendly, highly trained and experienced operators are on hand to take your call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
There is a charge for the service which is available on request. If you think you may not be able to afford this, you can still apply as you maybe able to get some assistance.
Most of our customers are exempt VAT payments because of poor health or disability.
