Abandoned Properties
On receiving a report that a property appears to be not lived in, we will make a visual check of the building and check if neighbours have seen the tenant/s. We will leave a letter at the property asking the tenant to contact us within 7 days. Other investigations with other agencies such as Housing Benefit Department, and Council Tax office are made, although they are subject to Data Protection rules. Other checks with family members we know about are also made, asking the tenants whereabouts.
If the tenant does not contact us, we start proceedings to bring the tenancy to an end.
