From 1 February 2024, Bury Council is responsible for managing and maintaining all council homes previously supported by Six Town Housing.
Please use this website and other contact points as usual. Further information is also available on the council’s website.

Six Town Housing uses Facebook to tell you about services that might benefit you, share news stories, promote social housing and relay important information quickly to tenants.

We encourage conversation and would like you to ask us questions. Tell us what is happening in your area and ask us for advice – we are always happy to help.

If you can help someone who has asked a public question or made a comment, feel free to respond.

We can occasionally respond to Facebook posts out of office hours but cannot do this 24/7. If you need a repair out of office hours please contact our emergency hotline on 0808 144 5368 or visit www.sixtownhousing.org/contact-us if it is not an emergency.

The below also applies to other social media platforms, where applicable.

We reserve the right to amend our Social Media guidelines occasionally, and will send an update via Facebook when we do.

Facebook Rules

We want people to have a say and do not censor comments from tenants or residents, even if they are critical of Six Town Housing. We use tenant feedback to constantly improve services.

However, we do have a number of rules that we expect everyone to follow on our page and will delete or hide posts that do not follow these rules. In serious or repeated cases, we may issue a warning or block users who do not follow these rules from posting on the pages.

Please respect others

We encourage comments on our Facebook pages, but will not tolerate bullying. Anyone making abusive, disruptive, rude or offensive comments will be blocked from posting on the page.

We will also not tolerate the direct contact of tenants or staff via our page for purposes of advertising or harassment, and we will take any reports that we receive of this seriously.

We will remove any posts containing swearing. If you have strong feelings on an issue, please try to get your point across without bad language.

We know that not everyone will agree with one another all the time and we welcome debate, but we will remove anything we consider to be libellous. Repeat offenders will be blocked from posting on the page.

Spamming and advertising

We encourage not-for-profit companies, partner organisations, voluntary groups or community organisations to advertise services on our page, if they are relevant to our tenants. However, we will delete posts from commercial companies or any person or company that aims to mislead other visitors to our page.

We may also remove posts from visitors that are a duplicate of a previous post they have made (or overly similar in nature). Our Facebook wall is sometimes used by tenants to report issues that require immediate attention and multiple wall posts from another visitor may stop us responding to others in a timely manner. Please be mindful of others and try to keep information within one post.

If you have a lot to say over the course of several days, consider private messaging us on Facebook or using an alternative method of contacting us (www.sixtownhousing.org/contact-us).

Politics

We reserve the right to remove political comments made on our Facebook page. This is particularly important in the run up to elections, when councils and their partners have to be very careful not to do or say anything that appears to favour a particular political party or candidate.

Privacy and Data Protection

We want to protect visitors from fraud, scamming and unwanted contact from people that visit our page. Be careful not to share personal information, such as your address or contact details, publically on our Facebook wall and do not post the names, addresses or contact details of others on there. We will remove all instances of this.

If you need to provide us with these details, please do not do so publically. Instead, please send us a private message or use an alternative method.

We cannot monitor Facebook 24/7 and will remove any content that doesn't meet these Facebook guidelines as soon as we see it.
