Our Community Star Awards give you the opportunity to nominate the unsung heroes in your Six Town Housing community. If you apply, they could be shortlisted and recognised at our awards ceremony on Thursday 2nd November 2017.

Please see below for category information and make your nomination below. You do not need to be a Six Town Housing tenant to nominate or be nominated - the individual just needs to live within the community.

Nomination Criteria


Best Community Project

Awarded to an individual or group who has developed a community project that has made a positive impact on people’s lives or the neighbourhood, or raised community spirit through, for example:

  • a youth project,
  • luncheon club for the elderly,
  • training project,
  • security project, or
  • similar project.

Good Neighbour Award


Awarded to a neighbour or someone close within your community who:

  • Is always there when you need them,
  • Looks out for their neighbours, or
  • Goes over and above what a neighbour would normally do going that extra mile for others.

Best Environmental Initiative


Awarded to an individual or group who has:

  • Transformed a green space or area within their neighbourhood.
  • Run a gardening club, recycling initiative or improved a play area.
  • Supported, run or participated in an energy efficiency initiative.

Success Story Of The Year (supported by Steps to Success)

Nominee is a Steps to Success customer who has achieved a personal/professional goal set when signing up to the programme. This could be;

  • New employment
  • Undertaking training and/or
  • Continuous personal development by improving their confidence, social skills, self motivation or family life.

Retirement Living Award


Awarded to an individual or group who:

  • Are a good Retirement Living neighbour,
  • Have created/maintained a Retirement Living mini garden (this can be window boxes, shrubs, tubs etc),
  • Organises activities for residents in Retirement Living

Young Rising Star


Awarded to a young person or group of young persons under the age of 25 who have:

  • Helped to promote the views of young people,
  • Helped others achieve success,
  • Shown initiative and cared for others in the community, or
  • Been involved in a community project, or
  • Worked to improve relationships between younger and older people.

Inspirational Individual

Awarded to an individual who has:

  • Campaigned for changes to benefit their community.
  • Improved employment prospects and skills of others.
  • Given free care and support to others e.g. vulnerable people or with language barriers; or
  • Dedicated time to improving their local area.

Volunteer of the Year

Awarded to a resident who is:

  • Committed to resident involvement, and/or
  • Volunteered for Six Town Housing to improve services for tenants.

Safer/Improved Community Award

Awarded to a resident who:

  • Helps to develop and improve communities to make them safer places to live.
  • Is involved in community Neighbourhood Matters and provides a direct link to Six Town Housing by attending meetings and sharing information about the communities they live in.
  • Leads a neighbourhood watch in their community.
  • Attends Six Town Housing’s Wednesday Walkabouts to identify issues and develop action plans.
