The chair of a Tenant and Resident Association (TRA) in Bury who deliver a food bank, has requested additional donations of non-perishable food and toiletry items to support those in need.

Chesham Fold TRA and Caritas are distributing between 20 and 25 food bags per week to individuals and families struggling to maintain living costs.

However, while the group receive a good number of donations - including items from Aldi and M&S during the Christmas period - they are in need of more non-perishable food and basic hygiene items.

Kiera Delaney, chair of Chesham Fold TRA, said, “Our food bank helps the more unfortunate people and families in Bury, so they don’t need to go hungry or skip meals in order to pay bills or amounting debt. We are looking for more kind donations for the bank and could benefit from accessing more non-perishable items, such as tinned food. We also don’t think people or families in a crisis should lose their dignity, so would also like to help people visiting the bank access basic toiletries – everything from shampoo to toilet roll and toothpaste. A huge “thank you” to everyone who has supported the food bank so far.”

The Food Bank runs every Thursday from 10am to 11.30am. To contact the TRA call 0161 253 6465 or visit their Facebook page.
