Aim of the Scheme

● To enable you to stay in your own home for as long as possible and provide an alternative to residential care.

● To give you all the usual rights of a Six Town Housing tenant and provide care and support you need.

● To offer an environment that enables you to remain independent and control your life.

What is Extra Care?

In March 2003 Bury Council opened its first integrated Extra Care scheme; a joint venture between Communities & Wellbeing and Six Town Housing.

Falcon and Griffin House provides 24 hour care and support to 69 tenancies. The care and support is provided by Communities & Wellbeing who are based on site and have a minimum of 2 staff on duty 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Customers are assessed by the Care Team for the levels of Care and Support they require. The Care packages are tailored to each individuals need and are charged using the Communities & Wellbeing charging policy. The Support is delivered and charged for in one of the following 3 categories.

What are the weekly costs for the care package?

  • Low  - £14.16
  • Medium - £28.34
  • High - £70.86

Charges may vary depending on your support charge which has three levels of support, plus rent, amenity charges and utility bills

You may be entitled to Housing Benefit which will cover these costs. Six Town Housing can carry out a pre-affordability interview and help you with these claims.
