Six Town Housing and the Customer Review Group (CRG) have been working together to improve estates across the borough with the help of our Neighbourhood Caretakers.

The CRG is made up of tenants who meet regularly with Six Town Housing management to review performance throughout the business and make improvement recommendations. They recently investigated how Six Town Housing’s Neighbourhood Caretaking team operate, particularly within Communal Blocks and shared spaces.

Six Town Housing Business Managers accompanied the CRG on a review tour of Radcliffe neighbourhoods to help the group gain an understanding of the areas that the team work within. This involved visiting streets around Abbey Close, Outwood, Chapelfield and the area near the Irwell River to get a feel for how the neighbourhoods look and the concerns of local tenants.

During this visit, the customer group recognised the great work carried by caretakers, but highlighted a number of customer priorities that are being addressed as a result. These included ensuring that communal blocks are clean and to work to tackle fly-tipping, including working with tenants to identify the culprits and taking enforcement action so they can be fined.

Helena Donegan, Chair of the Customer Review Group, said, “This was the first walkabout we’ve done with the CRG, It was great to see the work that goes on across the estates and it was usefully giving feedback first hand. We’ve decided to do an annual walkabout tour every June to help improve communities across the borough.”

TRAs across Bury will be invited to take part in a customer satisfaction survey of their estates by organising their own walkabouts and providing feedback to Six Town Housing.
