Six Town Housing's Maintenance Team will provide a more localised service

Six Town Housing’s community maintenance team have been rebranded ‘Neighbourhoods Direct’, with staff receiving new training and equipment to enable them to be fully mobile, offering a more efficient, localised service to benefit tenants and residents.

Neighbourhoods Direct ensure the day to day cleanliness and tidiness of estates where Six Town Housing manage social housing properties on behalf of Bury Council. Duties include the cleaning of communal areas, rubbish removal and environmental improvements.

Staff are assigned to certain areas across the borough, getting to know their “patch” well and identifying where there may be issues to tackle.

To help them carry out their duties, the team recently received specialist training so that they can use ‘tetra’ ladder safety systems, enabling them to safely clear gutters and undertake other maintenance at a height.

Neighbourhoods Direct staff have also received new pole cleaning equipment, helping them to clean windows, external PVC and other hard to reach places on communal blocks faster and more effectively.

Sharon McCambridge, Chief Executive of Six Town Housing, said, “Neighbourhoods Direct are out and about on our estates every week day, improving the look and feel of our tenants’ surroundings. If you spot anything of concern in your community that you feel the team could tackle, please let us know.”
