Tina Harrison, Six Town Housing’s new tenant board member, has been awarded an MBE for her amazing work helping others within her community.

Tina supports her community in many ways, such as helping run Trinity Foodbank in Radcliffe. The foodbank is now helping to feed more than 100 families who are struggling. She started helping at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic where the foodbank went from distributing 20 food hampers a week up to 150, thanks to donations from local people and businesses.

Along with this, Tina is one of the founders of Corrie Gardeners, a group who work to make their community a better place for everyone. The group is made up of volunteers who run environmental initiatives and social activities within the Coronation Gardens area of Radcliffe.

Tina is also a member of Six Town Housing’s tenant-led Customer Review Group, who investigate how different areas of the business are performing in order to make positive changes. The group recently nominated Tina to become the new tenant representative on Six Town Housing’s board, so she will now have even more influence on Six Town Housing’s future.

Tina Harrison said, “I was shocked when I received the original email, I thought it was a scam. I was delighted, when I reread it and realised it was real. The community I live in is important to me as are the people that live here too. This is for all the fantastic volunteers out there, who go above and beyond.”
