Six Town Housing's Repairs Direct team work on first external contract

Repairs Direct (Six Town Housing’s in-house repairs service) is currently working on its first external contract, installing kitchen and bathrooms in 80 properties managed by Springs Tenant Management Cooperative.

The Repairs Direct team are perhaps best known for maintenance. However, since October 2014 they have also installed nearly 300 kitchens and 300 bathrooms in homes across the borough, as part of the ongoing Capital Programme that is improving the standard of social housing across the borough.

Repairs Direct currently delivers 61% of the work programme for Six Town Housing. By taking this on using its own workforce instead of contracting it to other companies, Six Town Housing is making savings that are being reinvested into delivering more services for tenants and residents across Bury.

The team also worked extensively on homes that were damaged by flooding in December 2015.

Wayne Campbell, Repairs Direct Business Manager, said, “I commend all the staff involved for their hard work and commitment in getting us to this stage. The team continue to go from strength to strength, getting quicker by the contract.”
