This winter season, Six Town Housing delivered 200 Winter Wellbeing packs to vulnerable tenants in the local community. These packs were imperative to our vulnerable tenants, who needed extra help this winter to stay safe and warm. Each pack contained non-perishable food, items to keep them warm and lots of helpful advice and information.
As well as providing much needed physical assistance to our tenants, the information in each pack ensured that help could be sought after from the right services, regardless of what problem they were facing. We have links with organisations such as Age UK, the Fire Service and Public Health and so we were able to provide information booklets to advise what support is available and provide helpful energy saving tips.
Whilst our amazing team were out delivering Wellbeing Packs, they offered welfare checks which meant that we could provide additional support - such as advice on reporting repairs, making referrals for further support and signposting to community centres and drop-ins. This further wellbeing support came at a vital time for our tenants, as many people are already struggling to meet the rising cost of living and fuel prices. By meeting our team face to face, many tenants reached out for support they may never have requested, and hence would have gone unnoticed and without help.
Our chosen tenants were referred to us by community partners and for this, we would like to thank our local schools, Support at Home staff, community champions and many more fantastic community groups.
Sandra, a tenant in Prestwich said, “I received a Winter Wellbeing pack on one of the coldest days in December. My heating had stopped working due to the pipes being frozen, so I really appreciated it. The thermal hat and gloves went straight on whilst we waited for the heating engineer.”
Phil, another local tenant who received a wellbeing pack said, “Six Town Housing is not just housing, but they are caring and provide support if needed in the community.”
Thank you to everyone who made this happen. We are committed to continuing to deliver great services that improve the quality of your home and neighbourhood.
