Young visitors at Prestwich Summer Roadshow

The second in a series of fun family events took place in Prestwich on Tuesday
August 1st, and was attended by over 140 adults plus their children.

Six Town Housing’s Summer Roadshow is taking place every Tuesday in the
Summer holidays in areas across the borough. The Prestwich event, which took
place in St Marys Park, provided free entertainment and activities for children,
including face-painting, giant games, a bouncy castle and reptile handling.

While families were entertained, adults accessed information on a range of services
that Six Town Housing offers to people living in the 8,000 properties it manages on
behalf of Bury Council, and those living in surrounding communities.
This included stalls about their Steps To Success employment programme and
areas where tenants could report repairs and find out about improvement work
planned for homes.

Maria Worthington, Neighbourhoods Business Manager at Six Town Housing said,
“The sun was out for the first half of the event in Prestwich, and despite rain later in the day we still managed to speak to a lot of people from the area. A theme of this year’s Roadshow is to promote local community groups, and the Prestwich event showcased the local Phoenix Youth Club, which had a stall selling refreshments.”

Mark Jones, Phoenix Centre Manager, said, "A group of young people helped host
the stall, selling sweets and drinks to attendees. It was fantastic to give them the
opportunity to participate in a community event and they did us proud."
