Christmas is meant to be a time of joy. No one should feel they are alone, especially at Christmas. Loneliness can have a big impact on our mental and physical health.
We know that Covid has been tough for our communities. Around a million more people became chronically lonely during lockdown – resulting in 3.7 million adults in the UK reporting that they were often or always lonely by the beginning of 2021.*
Are you or do you know somebody who is feeling alone? There are many ways to combat loneliness – why not visit a friend this holiday, or give a ring to an elderly relative who you haven’t talked to for a while?
We have gathered a list of local services to help you to tackle loneliness, from befriending services to getting involved with Tenant and Residents Associations (TRAs).
