Tenants from Red Bank in Radcliffe have received a top accolade for gardening, the second year running.

Roy Davey, Olive Jackson and Brian Wharton, who volunteer to maintain the gardens at Red Bank Extra Care scheme where they live, have been awarded the highest possible recognition (level 5 - Outstanding) at the Britain in Bloom North West finals in Southport, within the “It’s Your Neighbourhood” category.

The trio also won the Communal Garden Award this year in Six Town Housing’s Gardening Competition, an Annual Award that recognises the skills and efforts of gardeners living within neighbourhoods managed by Six Town Housing on behalf of Bury Council.

Scheme Manager Clare Hunter said, “Roy, Olive and Brian truly deserve this award. They dedicate so much of their own time to making the garden look beautiful for the benefit of everyone living here, and it gets a lot of use by tenants in the Summer time.”
