The winner of the photo competition encouraging households in the borough to share how they have been staying happy, healthy and entertained during the lockdown has been announced by Six Town Housing this week, with a gallery of entries posted online to help inspire others.
Overall Six Town Housing received 22 entries from across the borough, from tenants living in homes they manage on behalf of Bury Council.
The randomly selected winner of a £25 online shopping voucher was Stacey Gilkes, who submitted a photo of a homemade model play village she created with her two daughters, which included shops, a zoo and a park.
A wide variety of entries were submitted, showcasing everything from gardening through to family activities celebrating the hard work of keyworkers, local scenic walks and other unique ideas. For example, one mum submitted a photo of an outdoor cinema created for her son’s 11th birthday, while another family built their own McDonalds out of an old wardrobe for their children because they were missing it.
Stacey, the competition winner, said, “We came up with our idea when my daughters wanted to play with their playset and I thought it would be fun if we extended it into a model village for them. I think running a competition like this is great because it inspires others. We are all very happy about winning.”
A spokesperson from Six Town Housing said, “We want to thank everyone who sent in their entries for this competition. It has been fantastic seeing some of the ways that tenants have been staying well in their homes and we hope that their activities have given some new ideas to others in need of inspiration.”
