This last year has highlighted just how many ordinary people can carry out extraordinary things for their neighbours.
Whether you have a selfless neighbour or know of a community group who actively go out of their way to make the area better for everyone, why not show them how much they are appreciated by nominating them for a Community Heroes Award.
The winners of each category will win a £100 shopping voucher and trophy, plus receive special recognition in an online awards ceremony in February 2021.
Everyone who is shortlisted will also receive a pack containing a raffle ticket to win exciting prizes during the event plus treats to enjoy while they tune in to the broadcast, as will those people who have successfully nominated them.
Put your neighbours or groups forward for the categories below for a chance for them to make the shortlist. While anyone can make a nomination, only those who live in a home managed by Six Town Housing or volunteers from groups based within a Six Town Housing managed neighbourhood can be shortlisted.
The deadline for entries is Monday 4th January 2021.
Best Community project
Nominate individuals or groups who have led on, or been involved in, a project that has made a huge impact within your neighbourhood. For example, it could be an initiative developed to support people in need, improve green spaces, tackle loneliness or anything else that has brought the community together and improved the lives of local residents.
Do you have a neighbour or community group who you can always depend on and who go out of the way to support you or other people? We want to know who you think makes your life that little bit easier, perhaps by helping with daily tasks, running errands or simply being a listening ear. Let them know how much they are appreciated by giving them a nomination.
Nominate those aged 60 and over who prove that age is just a number through the passion and drive they show in making their neighbourhood a great place for everyone. Whether they support their neighbours or are an instrumental part of a community group, let us know about their amazing achievements.
This young rising star (aged 16 and under) will have made a huge difference supporting others, dedicating time to community projects or actively improving relationships between younger and older people.
Local Hero of 2020
We want to know who you think has made the biggest positive impact within your community this year. Whether through a big project or a small action, we want to know how their actions have changed the lives of others. This award is presented in memory of Community Hero Brenda Headley.
