Career Development & Learning

We want to provide staff with an environment where they can learn every day, have the opportunity to develop and are able to play to their strengths.

We don’t map out careers for our staff; instead we make sure everyone is aware of the opportunities available, we talk about careers and development regularly and provide ways for staff to experience new skills.

Ultimately though, we believe individuals own their own career and if an individual lets us know where they want to get to, we’ll try to do everything we can to help them get there, as we love to see people grow and progress.

We can offer:

  • A coaching culture
  • Challenging work
  • Freedom and autonomy
  • Opportunities for personal growth
  • Secondments/participation in project groups
  • A mentoring scheme
  • Qualifications
  • Access to e-learning courses
  • An online learning hub
  • Regular development discussions

Pay & Benefits

We may not always be able to pay as much as some places in terms of base salary, but we can offer you a work experience that money just can’t buy. We also like to think we offer a pretty attractive total reward package that includes the follow benefits:

  • A 37 hour working week
  • An occupational sick pay scheme to support you financially whilst you are absent from work
  • Enhanced maternity pay so you can really make the most of your time off with your child and two weeks paid leave for partners
  • A fantastic pension scheme and life assurance through the Greater Manchester Pension Fund to help you protect your future and so that you can enjoy your retirement
  • A generous annual leave entitlement so you can recharge. This starts at 26 days per annum and increases to 31 days per annum, with options to purchase or bank leave for a special occasion
  • Access to a car loan scheme
  • A career making a difference

Flexible Working

Here at STH our aim is to make flexibility a reality for all, because we realise how important it is to have a good work life balance. We think we are leading the way in this area and offer a number of options to eligible staff including:

  • Career breaks
  • A flexi-time scheme
  • Job sharing
  • Working from home
  • Part time working
  • Mobile/agile working
  • Compressed hours
  • Variation of working hours

Staff Wellbeing

We believe that it is vitally important to help our employees maintain good health and wellbeing and therefore offer:

  • A free and confidential Employee Assistance Programme including access to counselling and information, support and advice whenever it is needed
  • Mental Health First Aiders
  • A Simply Health Cash Plan
  • A bi-annual Health Surveillance Programme

Technology

At Six Town we fully embrace new digital ways of working and to support this we:

  • Invest in technology to make your work easier, which means less paper and more streamlined processes
  • Make sure you have the correct training to make the most of the technology available to you
  • Have utilised technology to help you work flexibly so you can have a good work-life balance
  • Are committed to constantly developing our technology so work is less complicated
  • Encourage you to embrace the changes technology creates and be passionate about the benefits it can bring

The working day

For many of our employees we operate a flexi-time scheme to allow you to manage your own working day. Our offices are open from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday and we will trust you to manage your own time, on the proviso that it works for the business and our customers.
