A 25 year old from Bury who struggled with confidence and also finding a job, now has a blossoming career as an IT assistant at Bury Council after accessing support through Steps To Success.
Living at home with his dad, Jon didn’t really have a career path and his confidence was extremely low. Jon was contacted by one of Six Town Housing’s Community Development Workers and offered a place on a Positive Steps course – a confidence and motivational building workshop that aims to remove barriers to employment and help attendees achieve their personal goals. Jon made some remarkable steps with his motivation throughout the week and began to look at the world in a more positive light.
Jon continued to receive support and mentoring from Steps To Success, which led to him being offered a 3 month placement at Six Town Housing. Jon gained experience in lots of different areas of the business, gaining insight into ICT, Admin and Communications. He made such a good impression, that his placement was renewed for a further 3 months.
Following his work placements, Jon had the experience and skills to secure himself a full time job as an ICT assistant at Bury Council and is enjoying his time there.
Jon said: “Steps to Success is an amazing journey from start to finish and I would recommend it to anyone! I’ve not done too bad in such a short amount of time and can safely say that knock on my door was probably the beginning of my life.”
