8TH SEPTEMBER 2022

We have secured Government funding to upgrade 100 properties on Chesham Estate with energy and carbon saving work.

The work will include external wall insulation as well as new doors and windows, LED lighting, Solar PV, heating controls, extra loft insulation, draughtproofing and any repairs to the outside of the homes to improve airtightness. Not all properties will be having all the works listed above, it will be based on the retrofit property assessment for each home.

An open day will be held to explain the project in more detail before we start the work and our Project Advisors will be working closely with tenants and the site team to ensure the project can be delivered with the minimum of disruption to our tenants.

The works will start soon and will be expected to be completed by March 2023 at the latest. Once the work is completed, we will be checking to ensure the work has improved the energy efficiency of the homes and reduced the carbon footprint over a 12-month period. The project is being funded by Bury Council with grant funding from the Social Housing Decarbonising Fund and is being delivered in conjunction with other housing providers in Greater Manchester.

13TH OCTOBER 2022

We have put in another bid for grant funding with other housing providers to the Social Housing Decarbonising fund. The grant we have asked for will pay for energy efficiency works to be carried out to around another 250 homes. If we are successful, we will be using the grant to go towards the costs of making homes more energy efficient by improving the insulation, doors and window replacements, external wall insulation, solar panels and LED lighting. We will check the homes air tightness and ventilation and carry out any repairs to the outside of the homes. We are also checking the insulation within the wall is effective and replacing any missing insulation as well as increasing the insulation in the loft space.

We are already undertaking energy efficiency works to homes on the Chesham Estate which is part funded through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund. We have started work on the first 20 homes in this project which is due to be completed by March 2023. The scheme will include 100 homes on the estate having a range of retrofit work undertaken and the energy and carbon saving will be monitored for 12 months after the works is completed to check how well the retrofit improvement have performed.
