Looking back on our Summer CommUnity Events

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported our CommUnity Events during the summer holidays. These events aimed to share advice and support on coping with the cost of living, debt, and benefits, and offer fun activities for children.

We were overwhelmed with the amount of food donations we received from Six Town Housing staff, partners and tenants and we will be distributing these to a number of food banks across Bury. 100 loaves of bread were also donated by Warburton’s Bakery which were handed out to tenants.

At these events, we ran a survey focusing on cost-of-living support; including debt advice, referrals to Household Support Fund, being digitally connected, and training or volunteering opportunities. 41 tenants completed the surveys and have all been entered into a prize draw. The details of the winner will be announced soon.

Following these events, an action day was organised on the Townside estate to clear up the play area involving several residents who managed to remove 16 bags of rubbish. We are also in the process of meeting some tenants from Sherbourne Court in Prestwich who want to start a ‘grow your own’ communal planters.

Kim Ryan-Dooner, Engagement and Skills Coordinator, said, “We felt it was a huge success for the tenants that attended as they really benefited from the advice and support provided and we couldn’t have done it without you so a massive thank you from all of us!”
