This week, we held our first CommUnity Event on Sherbourne Court in Prestwich! These events aim to share advice and support on coping with the cost of living, debt and benefits, and offer fun activities for children.
A number of agencies were there to help provide advice and support including Health Watch Bury, Calico, Citizen’s Advice Bury and Bolton, Greater Manchester Police and Manchester Credit Union.
We had 15 people complete our survey to collect tenants’ views on what they like about their area and what needs improvement. Everyone who completes a survey will be in with a chance of winning a £50 voucher.
We collected a number of donations for local Food Banks and our ‘Swap Shop’, where people can bring items they no longer need, such as clothes or toys, and swap them for something they do need. These will be at all our events, so if you can, please donate.
Warburtons Bakery kindly donated 20 loaves of bread to be given out at the event and they will be supplying more for our future events, so make sure to come down so you don’t miss out.
Debbie Standring, Tenant Engagement Advisor, said, “It was great to hold our first Community Day at Sherbourne Court in Prestwich. Some positives from the day were that some residents want to get involved to develop a community garden and raised planters on the estate, so watch this space! We’d like to thank all the visitors, staff, and partners for all the donations to the food bank donation drive, it is much appreciated. We look forward to seeing everyone next week at our second event in Ramsbottom!”
We are running these events every Tuesday for the next 4 weeks across Bury, here’s when we might be in your area!
