Six Town Housing is committed to the promoting a shared understanding of the work we undertake within our own organisation and with our partners.

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act gives everybody the right to information held by a public authority, including local government and Arms Length Management Organisations that are set up to manage a Council’s housing stock (ALMOs). Six Town Housing is an ALMO.

In order to guide customers to information which is already in the public domain, Six Town Housing has a publication scheme which can be found here. If you cannot find what you are looking for you will need to make a Freedom of Information Request to Six Town Housing. This can be done in the following ways:

  • Email – housingenquiries@bury.gov.uk – Use the Title ‘Freedom of Information Request’
  • In writing to the Business Development Co-ordinator, Six Town Housing, 6 Knowsley Place, Angouleme Way, Bury, BL9 0EL
  • Via our Contact Centre – 0161 686 8000

Please try and be as specific as possible with your request so that the information we provide is relevant to your request. It is also useful to state how you wish the information will be provided to you..

The FOI Request Process

Following submission of a Freedom of Information (FOI) request Six Town Housing will acknowledge receipt of your request for information within 5 working days. If we need to clarify any aspect the request we may contact you. We will work towards providing you with the requested information within 20 working days, unless of course the information cannot be provided or that it will take longer to provide, in which case you will be notified within the 20 day period.

Information may not be provided if we don’t hold it or we can't send it to you. Exemptions apply to information which might damage our commercial interests, such as the buying of goods and services; commercially sensitive information or third party information about others that would be a breach of data protection; confidential information about the organisation, such as details about our employees. If we're not able to give you some or all of the information you ask for, we will usually let you know why.

Disclosure of information held by Six Town Housing about yourself is dealt with under the Data Protection Act. Information can be found by clicking here.

There will normally be no charge for making a request for information but in certain cases we reserve the right to charge if we estimate that the total cost of providing the information exceeds the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450. More detailed information is available via the Ministry of Justice website.
